Soft Fish 03:45
Gone away for the winter, Gone away for the year, Hide away in the corner Wonder why I'm here I was high on your love, my dear I was high on your love, my dear Gone Away from the fire Gone away from the wind Passing out in the shadows Waiting for the end Drown myself in a dead pool By myself in the deep Gone away from the living Found myself unreal I was high on your love, my dear I was high on your love, but now I'm here

Memory Noise 06:43
Bored of thunder, chasing lightning, Underwater. Light the fire, take me under, I lost my mind over there My crazy diamond love I can hear the sound that you know My crazy diamond love Made of lightning bolts I can hear the sound that you know - Climb the tower under the moonlight, gone forever. Chasing safety, chasing danger Excited eyes gone blind. My crazy diamond love, I remember where we would go Crazy diamond love, made of lightning bolts I can hear the sound that you know

(Recording "soft fish" - Winter 2015 / 2016 )

The tiny space heater was on full blast. I couldn't afford to turn it off for each take, since my guitar would quickly go out of tune in the below freezing Wisconsin air...

We hung quilts and blankets from the ceiling for insulation and sound proofing. The temperature in the barn would be the same as the temp outside, which meant recording with frozen fingers in the winter.

"Soft Fish" features acoustic guitar & vocals

(Recording "Memory Noise" - August / September 2015)

The memories are vivid. This song goes back to the best and worst days of my life....

After the bliss of living together as our own family, I found myself alone again, unwelcomed and unwanted, exiled from the only heart and home I'd ever known.

Inside the barn, my eyes flooding with tears, I sat down with my guitar, glass slide, and microphone.

Using the R16 Interface/Recorder, I captured the guitar track directly and simultaneously with the voice, with an extra room mic recording the ambiance and atmosphere.

To capture authentic expression, I record live takes in the studio, instead of layer by layer, at least for the main guitar and main vocal track.

This recording is original and unedited, unmastered.

"Memory Noise" is one of the most sensitive and emotional songs I've written, about the imprints left on my heart and brain from being 14 years old and in love, sneaking into Lapham Peak at night.
Electricity in our bodies, lightning in our eyes, wandering the moonlit trails and climbing the tower to the sky.

Due to the personal nature of these songs, and imperfect audio quality, they've been kept private, retracted after they were first released back in 2016.
